Master Gunner Identification Badge


Description

A silver badge 2” (5.08cm) in height by 1 ¾” (4.45cm) in width consisting of an oak leaf wreath supporting the crossed branch insignia of Air Defense Artillery, Cavalry/Armor, Infantry, and Field Artillery. Attached below the wreath is an arched black tab bearing the inscription “MASTER GUNNER”


Symbolism

The mighty oak, a symbol of strength and perseverance, lends its leaves to form a wreath, embodying honor and achievement. The branch insignia of Air Defense Artillery, Cavalry/Armor, Infantry, and Field Artillery denote the specific areas of expertise that fall under the Master Gunner certification program. The upturned tab suggests technical expertise, support, and advice that a master gunner provides to the commander.
